Once that information was set, we moved into the design of the site which stemmed from their strong offline brand. The website now is a modern, brand-focused, user-centered experience that allows American Chartered Bank employees to update content easily through the Mighty Site Content Manager platform.

Anticipating the intense need for timely changes and additions, the site was built on our Mighty-Site CMS, which made it a snap for updates. In a 96-hour period, this site received up to 500,000 views and provided the world with a stage to see Chicago as never before.

Bandon Dunes is true to the spirit of Scotland’s ancient links. Here, players immerse themselves in the traditions of a timeless game and the grandeur of Oregon’s rugged coast. This prestigious golf course group noticed a large percentage of users coming to their website from mobile browsers, so they came to us to help them deliver their content to those users.
The mobile site takes a cue from the desktop site for design styles, but it takes advantages of technologies specific to smart phones such as click-to-call and native map integration (map this location buttons).
When Fair Oaks Farms rebranded its popular sports recovery drink, Honey Milk, to the new Core Power, they were in need of a new website as well. Working in correlation with a branding and packaging agency, Kaleidoscope, Orbit put together a rugged new site for the product launch.

Whether it's featuring events, new product launches, athletes, or just helping customers find stores in which to buy Core Power, Mighty-Site can handle it. We encourage you to check out the new site, and get yourself a bottle or two. It's good stuff!
Planeterra wasn't a newcomer to Orbit, but in 2011 they decided that it was time for a redesign. Planeterra supports social and environmental solutions in destinations where travelers visit. Now, instead of raising money for specific projects, they have donors choose a fund that supports multiple projects. By leveraging the client's iconography and vast photo library, we created a visually engaging website that was easy to navigate and has a clear call to action for donations.
Nitel, a nationwide telecom management service provider (TMSP), worked with Orbit years ago to design their website. A great site it was in its day, but as time passed and their business grew, so did the demands and expectations of their website. So, they came back for an update.

Building on top of MY's gorgeous modern branding, we delivered a very user-friendly site, which includes our heavily tested, one-page checkout process, making sure it's easy for you to get your hands on your product of choice.
MY launched with it's first line, "My Prime", anti-aging formulas.
When buying or selling an aircraft, finding a company that possesses the perfect blend of experience, financial strength, integrity and resourcefulness is the key to success. There are a handful of aviation companies that offer these strengths, and General Aviation Services is foremost among them. We are so pleased with the mobile site design, as it is an excellent way for potential buyers to check out a detailed view of inventory on-the-go, as well as giving them access to read about and contact the team directly. Click-to-call, Google maps, and email access make it easy for any smart phone user to get more information faster. The design is a beautiful transition from the desktop site, and even though it's more compact, it still keeps the integrity of the gorgeous aircraft photography front and center.
Fleet Feet is Chicago's go to store for runners, athletes and those who want to be part of a unique community. Our main goal on this project was to make a site that personified a newly established image, showcased their product lines and furthered the opportunity for users to take an active part in this strong athletic community. Features such as an extensive event calendar, twitter feeds, photo galleries and large product databases compliment this modern and modular design, giving users the true Fleet Feet experience.
Each year Orbit donates web design & development services to one Chicago-area, non-profit cultural, social or environmental organization in an event called Chicago Cause. This year, Inspiration Corporation was the lucky recipient, and they received an entire website and social media and PR services (totaling over $32,000 in marketing services)!
Inspiration Corporation is an amazing Chicago-based organization that helps people who are affected by homelessness and poverty to improve their lives and increase self-sufficiency through the provision of social services, employment training and placement, and housing. We were so thrilled to build their new website to include flexible pages and graphic areas to showcase their gorgeous photography and content, as well as give them a fully integrated blog, events calendar, twitter feed, contact form and interactive Google maps. The new site is easily updated through our content management system, Mighty-Site, and will be a great communication tool and branding outlet for years to come!
LoyalAlums offers discounted products and services from businesses that are owned or operated by graduates of your alma mater. It's like a private alumni club for savvy online shoppers. For this site, we created a very user-friendly, collegiate-looking experience that leverages a personal connection between the consumer and the university with which they are associated. Deals contain alumni snapshots, business profiles and photos. There is also a robust back-end that allows customers and businesses to manage their orders. The site runs entirely on Drupal CMS.
Loop Capital is a leader in the investment banking and capital industry, with offices in over 20 cities in the United States. Since their start as a small firm with a staff of six in 1997, they have brokered deals exceeding a billion dollars. They came to Orbit in need of a site that brought their web presence up to the level of their stature in the market. Wishing for a platform that allowed them to feature their market commentary, deal announcements, and frequent appearances on CNBC and other cable news outlets, Orbit built a site using the Drupal content management system. This gave them the flexibility they need to keep the content on their site fresh, and it provides the SEC-mandated documentation and tracking of changes. A sleek, urban design to complement the powerful backend reflects their corporate culture and presents them as a player in their industry.
Protein Bar accomplishes that elusive feat of bringing the magic of healthy food and delicious taste together! Their unique concept and business model made us so excited to get moving on this project, since the redesign included some great features. Included are a wordpress blog, twitter feed, flexible by-location menu creation, google maps location finder, testimonials, photo galleries, a slideshow, and expandable FAQs. But, the main goal was to create a CMS based website that could easily be updated as well as become accessible to lots of busy professionals in the Loop looking for a quick and healthy meal. It's always an added bonus to be able to work with a beautiful brand package and great photographer! Congrats Protein Bar on the new site - we love it too!
Orbit teamed up with the talented team at Lalich Photography to create a beautiful new website for Cheese Merchants. Since 1998, Cheese Merchants of America has been providing the finest imported and domestic, premium and specialty cheeses to their customers; yet their previous site didn't convey the quality of product and service they prided themselves on delivering to their customers. The new site is super easy to navigate, is packed with important product information, features a new recipe section, and visually compliments the mouthwatering new product photography. The end result is an online experience that matches the offline experience Cheese Merchants has always provided.
Once the development of the main website was underway, we shifted focus to the mobile site. We applied a reduced version of the new site's brand elements and streamlined content centered around features such as Open Table reservations, Google Maps integration, menu, events and push-to-call. The mobile and main site are both built on a single Mighty-Site content management system, making for easy site updates.
As the main site was put into production, we focused on the mobile site. A reduced version of the new site's brand elements and streamlined content drove the design. Features such as Open Table reservations, Google Maps integration, events, and push-to-call make it easy for users who need to take action quickly. Both the main site and mobile are built on a single Mighty-Site content management system, making for easy global site updates.
As the full cycle website was being completed for American Charted Bank, we began to design and develop the mobile version of the website. Keeping the goals in line with the main website (user-friendly, brand-focused and easy to update), we implemented a stripped down version that offers up only the essentials for a mobile experience. Pages such as a online banking log-in, find a branch, lost cards and contact information direct users to the most critical aspects of the bank.
Got a Bird problem? Who ya gonna call?? With the new Bird X site, you won't have to "call" anyone. Bird X has been in the bird control business longer than any of their competitors, since 1964. They are the industry leaders and came to Orbit for a site revamp that would back this claim up. The new site is clean, crisp, and easy-to-navigate, showcasing the environmentally safe products and superior expertise offered by Bird X. Featuring easily accessible product catalog, revamped ecommerce with Paypal integration, product specific case studies, and custom evaluation forms; solving your pest problems has never been easier, or more humane.
Independent Publishers Group is a serious publishing enterprise with a reputation for integrity, expertise, and personalized service. They needed a website that seamlessly married their new brand identity with best practices in usability, functionality and information architecture. Our goal was to create a modern design for the site that is inspired by the Bauhaus design aesthetic - focusing on typographic clarity and attention to detail. But, most importantly, our goal was to build IPG's reputation by boosting credibility and reinforcing the importance of traditional media efforts, transparency, professionalism, and a sense of trust among all audiences, from consumers and big box retail chains to librarians and authors. So we created a robust database for a very large product catalog that is searchable, easy-to-use and synchronized with their internal systems. Beyond that, the new site is search-engine friendly, user-friendly, and has room to grow exponentially in the near future.
Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House is one of Chicago's finest seafood restaurants. Hugo's evokes class and sophistication in a comfortable setting. The new website design captures the Hugo's experience through the use of large background imagery and nautical elements found within it's space. The user experience has been made easy through surface-level navigation to menus, Open Table reservations and contact information.
Once the development of the main website was underway, we began to focus on the mobile site. The design focused on using reduced brand elements from the main site to create a user experience that is very smooth. Navigation to photos, menus, Open Table reservations, gift cards and contact details are all at the surface for users to find the most relevant information quickly and easily.
We take every site we do here at Orbit as an opportunity to bring the best possible solution to the table. But sometimes, the right client, with the right brand, in the right industry comes along, and we get to do something even a little more special and outside of the box. This was the case with Digital Third Coast.
The end result is a site that seamlessly overlaps brand expertise and company personality through the combination of constantly evolving content, playful staff photography and biographies, bold type and color, as well as interesting page designs. All of this was tied together by DTC's unique nautical brand. The site just evokes Digital Third Coast's vibe, which is great, because we're big fans of Digital Third Coast.
After successfully completing design and development of the full cycle website for Fleet Feet Chicago, our next phase of the project was to get the mobile site up and running. Not only did we want to give smart phone users a more appropriate interface, we also wanted to bring essential items like featured events, store locations, contact information, blog articles and featured products to the smaller screen and provide targeted information to people walking or using public transportation around the city. The final product is a quick and convenient way for Fleet Feet to connect with its audience of athletes all over Chicagoland.
Once the development of the Straits main website was underway, we began to design and develop the mobile website. Keeping true to the trendy, modern look and feel of the main site, we created an additional seven mobile sites while using the same information architecture. Once again, background images were used to denote each restaurant location with an optimized experience for mobile devices. Features such as Open Table reservations, Google Maps integration and push-to-call offer users the proper mobile usability coupled with an impactful visual experience. These sites are also built on the Mighty-Site content management system, allowing for easy site updates.
Majestic Star Casino, located in Gary, Indiana, is a short drive from Chicago and features a casino with table games, slots, a full-service hotel, and excellent dining options. Orbit had the pleasure of redesigning three of Majestic Star's resort websites from across the United States: Majestic Star, Black Hawk, and Tunica. Not only did we bring the current print branding to the online space, we also made it easy for them to update their content and photos, highlight bands and entertainment, schedule upcoming events, get quick messages from customers online and allow customers to book hotel reservations.
The desktop version of the visitclarkstreet.com website was such a success that we immediately started work on the mobile design. Because the site is a business and event directory, it was a prime candidate for a mobile site that would appeal to smartphone users traveling by public transport, families on the go, and others looking for quick info about Clark Street's offerings. We were able to dynamically pull information from the desktop site and display it on the mobile version, which meant easy administration and less work. We still chose to feature particular events and business listings, giving the user quick and easy access to contact information, maps, & coupons with short load times.
We are proud to announce the recent launch of our 2010 Chicago Cause winner - The Center for Disability and Elder Law! CDEL is a unique non-profit organization that provides pro bono legal services to low-income elderly persons and persons with disabilities, helping those who would otherwise struggle to find access to important legal services in times of need. This active network of hundreds of volunteer attorneys is making a direct impact everyday, while working to foster pro bono culture throughout the Chicago legal community. The new website now allows people to donate, volunteer, get in touch for legal services, watch videos, keep up with news and events, and ultimately build a stronger community all around.
Clark Street in Lincoln Park is home to exceptional shopping and public attractions, as well as a rich mix of restaurants and entertainment that range from the vintage to the vanguard. Our main goal on this project was to create a vibrant and inviting website to promote events and attractions, while also showcasing a detailed look at stores and eateries that populate the area. Not only did we build a large, searchable business directory with features like google maps & social media integration, we also came up with a fun and engaging design that is flexible and easy-to-update in Mighty-Site.
Once the development of the main website was underway, we began to focus on the mobile component. We applied a trimmed down version of the new site's brand elements along with streamlined content centered around features such as Open Table reservations, Google Maps integration and push-to-call. The connection between these elements offer users the proper mobile usability without compromise to the visual experience. The mobile and main site are both built on one Mighty-Site content management system, allowing for easy site updates across each medium.
Wonderlic is the leading provider of highly-regarded assessments & surveys for hiring and student selection processes. Their tests have been used by over 500,000 organizations. The final website design is a very clean, modern, inviting experience while the CMS solution is a great platform for internal teams to manage site updates.
We love ESS! They are dedicated to the 4 P's: promotion, production, presentation, & preservation (of the sonic arts). Some of the interesting features include: dynamic flash animation, audio/mp3 integration, fully editable calendar of events, blog, Flickr photo galleries, contact us form, mega footer and our flexible, editable content management tool, Mighty-Site.
Anderson Lock is a family-owned company founded by Gene Anderson in 1960. They are, by far, the trusted source in Chicago for door security hardware, locksmithing services, commercial grade hardware and expert technical advice. We wanted to bring all of their history, loyalty and expertise into the new ecommerce design, while also showcasing their full product catalog with an easy-to-use, faceted search. They now have an integrated ecommerce shop, filtered team member page, page-by-page catalog viewer, and the flexibility to update content for these features at anytime.
A shout out to our favorite neighborhood spot, Cafe 28, always satisfying our craving for tasty Cuban Mexican cuisine. For this project, we wanted to bring out the flavor and flair of the resturaunt by highlighting the cooking styles, people, and environment through video, intricate menu layouts and photo galleries. These videos really give the user a more personalized look into what its like to dine here. Stop by for a Mexican Chicken Torta or a Cuban Steak Sandwich; we'll save you a seat!
The Chicago Climate Action Plan was formed by the City of Chicago to educate the community about making buildings more energy efficient, clean & renewable energy sources, improved transportation options, reduced waste and pollution, and adaptation for a healthier city. The goal of the design was to align with the new branding recognized by the Chicago community and create an inviting space for new and returning users to interact.
