Northwestern National Collaborative for Education to Address the Social Determinants of Health (NCEAS), has a mission. We wanted a site that would support it.
Looking at the social determinants of health means researching the past while looking into the future. That is the mission of NCEAS, a research program out of Northwestern that relies on heavy community involvement. Bridging the gap between academia and the public is their goal, which makes it the goal of their site.
The new NCEAS site was information-heavy, with its primary actions being to find resources and other educational materials. This is a shared library between educators, researchers, practitioners, and community activists. It had to be able to grow and be accessed. We set up clear filters so that anyone could easily find what they were looking for, and any supplemental material they needed to continue learning.
This is an academic site with a purpose. We’re happy to help them in that purpose.
