Heroku, a pioneer in AI Platform-as-a-Service (AI PaaS), empowers developers to build, run and scale apps effortlessly– entirely in the cloud. Heroku offers a range of products, including their managed container system, cloud databases and data services, an app development marketplace and more.

The challenge

Rigid content management and custom integrations

Heroku’s original site was difficult to maintain and no longer served their needs. Their team partnered with Orbit to migrate their deeply customized marketing site and blog to a more flexible CMS. Some key challenges were:

  • Navigating unique layouts for nearly every page
  • Complex integrations like search and user session recognition
  • A need for enterprise-grade security and scalability

The solution

A flexible block system and a foundation for growth

Orbit efficiently migrated Heroku’s website to a more flexible, modular page-block system within WordPress VIP, giving Heroku full editorial control while preserving advanced functionality. Some key wins:

  • Created a modern, reusable design system
  • Migrated hundreds of resources and service pages
  • Integrated Algolia search, user recognition and analytics tools
  • Redesigned header, footer and mega-menus
