Advancing the civil rights of people with disabilities since 1985

Equip for Equality is a nationally recognized, private, not-for-profit organization with the mission to advance the human and civil rights of children and adults with disabilities in Illinois. They promote self-advocacy, serve as a legal advocate for people with disabilities and independently monitor public and private institutions and programs serving people with disabilities.

The challenge

Inspiring action and advancing accessibility

The Equip for Equality team came to Orbit with the key goal of creating a more accessible, story-driven and organized website that supports their mission of advancing the lives of people with disabilities. The existing site was outdated, and they knew it needed a refresh to more effectively inspire users to donate, learn more and get involved. Key goals were to:

  • Restructure the sitemap & navigation
  • Reorganize the resource library
  • Achieve AA accessibility
  • Inspire action

The solution

Story-driven copy and expert design

We prioritized additional working sessions with the EFE team and relied on our talented designers and developers to bring this site to life. With a blend of story-driven copywriting, fun designs, rigorous accessibility reviews and expert dev work, the new Equip for Equality site is now live and equipped to continue serving the people of Illinois. Some key wins:
