Web Developer


This is an opportunity to develop website projects at Orbit.  Build custom web sites for clients and internal tools for Orbit using PHP and MySQL.

Conquer web projects with outstanding usability for visitors and flexibility for clients.  Work directly with Project Managers and clients during analysis, design and development. Delegate tasks to Web Developers, Production Assistants and Interns.  Play an active role as we continue to build the Orbit web department.

Develop Medium/Large Scale Client Projects   

  • Hands-on development of web sites (PHP/MySQL/Mighty-Site®) and multimedia projects.
  • Systems Architecture and programming on custom applications.
  • Delegate tasks to Developers to efficiently complete projects.
  • Report to Project Managers and Technical Director with updates, suggestions, and technical input.
  • Occasionally design interfaces for websites and Flash applications.
  • Launch sites! (basic server administration)

Client/Project Management

  • Attend project kick-off meetings.
  • Advise clients and Project Managers on features and scope.
  • Advise Designers on uability of wireframes and designs.
  • Manage teams of Developers on multitudes of projects.

Administrative

  • Plan time budgets and resource allocation with Project Managers and Technical Director on website and multimedia proposals.
  • Write functionality documents for web/multimedia projects.
  • Mentor and train Developers and new team members.
  • Contribute to quoting process for potential projects.
  • Audit time/budgets.

 

Competencies include:

  • Expert knowledge in PHP/MySQL/XML and HTML/CSS/AJAX.
  • Intermediate knowledge with Flash/Actionscript.
  • Experience with interface usability/accessibility standards.
  • Continuing education of software, industry trends, etc.
  • Ability to autonomously develop a medium to large-scale client projects with OMS Mighty-Site®.
  • Document, delegate and oversee the quality/completion of tasks by team members.
  • Communication skills with clients, Project Managers and Directors.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree (probably in something technical or creative).
  • 4-6 years in web site development position.
  • Demonstrated communication skills with clients and team members.
